Teaching folk dances
Let's learn Scandinavian folk dances such as halling, slängpolska, menuett or the famous polskas ! Using metaphors and exercises to connect many points of the dance, Emelie guides dancers to understand a dance through a rich and varied prism, not only focusing on steps.
A selection of ready workshops :
- Pretend that pebbles are mountains : Norwegian halling
- Cinnamon buns : level up your schottis & add variations
- Train driver or Hodor : slängpolska & springar from Voss (leading/following styles in Scandi dances)
- Polska variations across the peninsula (level advanced)
Emelie's teaching style is sought after by dancers from all over Europe. Festivals like Balfolk Dansstage in the Netherlands or BalMostFolk in Poland keep inviting her as a dance teacher, year after year. Emelie is also very active in her local folk dance association Philochoros in Uppsala, where she regularly teaches both beginners' and advanced courses.

Playing for dance workshops
Emelie is a sought-after musician for dance workshops. She knows how to give energy to the dancers and is used to play some parts very slowly or on repeat when needed. Swedish tunes are her main repertoire but she also plays for global balfolk dances and for Swiss, French, Norwegian and Breton dances. Don't hesitate to ask if you need a live musician for your dance workshop !
