Ur SkogenWith nyckelharpa and Swedish bagpipes, we invite you to various Scandinavian traditional dances played with steady groove, rhythmical details and tasty modal scales.
With years of experience in dance teaching, we help every dancer learn more Nordic delicacies to enjoy on the dancefloor. Ur Skogen is : Emelie Waldken on nyckelharpa Erik Orvehed on säckpipa and Nordic folk flutes |
Balfolk Emelie solo
Emelie needs only her instruments to make dancers turn on the dancefloor all night long ! The recipe ? Her favourite Swedish tunes, some balfolk repertoire and personal compositions.
Nyckelharpa, fiddle, singing and foot percussion. Accoustic or with amplification. Workshops ideas : nyckelharpa techniques, Nordic fiddle techniques, Swedish repertoire (all instruments), polska dancing (basics or advanced), Swedish folk menuett, slängpolska, schottis variations... |

Harpavei |
Emelie Waldken and Sara Buffler play many strings, on harp and nyckelharpa plus their vocal cords, for a musical journey based on folk songs and dancing tunes, mists and trees and mountains.
Concerts, balfolks and workshops. Current status : Harpavei split ways, literally, with Emelie moving to Sweden and Sara to the Pyrenees, but we still collaborate for short-term projects. You can hear us together again on several tracks of Emelie's latest album. |
Svall Duo
|
Balfolk band with Scandinavian taste, with Sylvain Pool on guitar and cittern.
While Emelie's nyckelharpa paints a steady polska melody, Sylvain's guitar riffs furiously on heavy chords, and when Emelie's fiddle goes madly blue, Sylvain's cittern lays a calming drone-like line underneath. From halling to hanter dro, from schottis to bourrée, these two untamed musicians are sure to keep their dancers grinning until everyone collapses from happy dancing exhaustion ! Our live album "Live in Leuven" is available here. |
Knupia
|
Knupia is the story of two bands becoming a family. It is Sweden, the Netherlands and Switzerland united in a common balfolk and Scandinavian repertoire. Knep and Nubia put all their musicians and dance teachers together on stage, for a visible tight-bond energy carrying the dancers' feet all night long.
